Turning league play period into 1 month.

So, 80% of league participants believe that league matches should be played within one month.
I wonder how many of those 80% are going to complete ALL their matches.:what:
Internet is full of 1-month or 15-days bg leagues, but you can not find a good, long term league (11 games per 2 months) easily. IBA was one of those. It also has good manner participants and strong players.
I feel that a good LEAGUE is one in which ALL matches are played. Does anybody have a different opinion? Please let me know. The preoccupation for the latter, is to give enough time to participants to complete their games.
This is a message to all of you to rethink if the majority made a rush decision. If so please answer back, ASKING TOGETHER WITH ME, TO TURN IBA LEAGUE BACK INTO A 2 MONTHS EVENT!

I like the league better as 1 month,

It does mean it's pushing it tight to get all the games played, but with it as 2 months, it drags on to long,

Maybe a solution could be smaller divisions? :rolleyes: :what:

My decision to vote for the return of 1 month play was based on the following. I started playing in the IBA League from the very first month back in June 2000. The format then was one month and worked very well. There were also players then who left it to the very last moment but at least for the serious ones the activity was ongoing and for me it worked. I stopped in April this year because of the 2 month scheduling, the general lethargy and lack of interest of some players, and also because I felt that many players thought that they had loads of time and therefore made no attempt until the last minute to play their matches and often at not very convenient times for others. For me it took away the excitement as often you could battle for over a month to get your matches played. I know this does not apply to everyone and that the serious players do try and get their matches done as soon as possible. I also think that in the earlier days we played on pogo and it was a lot slower to play a 7/9 or 11 point match. On Playmaker however that can be achieved in a much shorter time. I do however see the point of view of those who like the 2 months, but for me I prefer 1 month.

:thumb: :scare: I also voted (and would have voted more than once if possible) for a one month format. I observed that with the two month format all it did was cause the undedicated players to wait 7 weeks to start completing their matches rather than 3 weeks. I think that the bottom line is that the IBA league is a committment. It is a priviledge for me to play with such accomplished players. I am excited and anxious for the start of each league period and look forward to it each 1st of the month. As for me... I have played all eleven 11 point matches and it is the 21st. I didn't win this period, but I'm not getting demoted either. I for one can't wait until September 1st and am glad I don't have to wait until October 1st.

:battle: This was my first month in a league and I guess I didn't mind the one month. However I did so bad in my league that towards the middle of the month I lost any exitement I may have had and wished for the next month to begin now.

What I am a bit disappointed with when beginning in this league play is I am actually part of a league that is made up of 48 participants!! At first, once I knew I was in division 3C, I thought I was only competing against the other 11 in my league for the top two to move up. However, then I learned I have to be in the top two for ALL four division 3 leagues! Oh brother, this could take forever! I wish it was setup similar to, say, the NFL divisions where the top player in each group of 12 participants compete against the other top players for the period's championship (similar to a ladder in tournament play). Of course the time period logistics would need to be worked out and after careful thought may not be practicle with everyone's varying schedules. Maybe four weeks for league play and two weeks for completing the "post season" matches (you would never guess I'm in some FFL leagues via cyberspace would you?).

Anyway, I'll give it another month or two and see if I do any better or stay enthusiastic within the current infrastructure before I decide on dropping or not.

Hi zoeboy :)

From each division 3 the top 2 players will be promoted to division 2.

This means that with 4 division 3 groups there will be 8 players that get promoted to division 2 each month.

The bottom 4 players of each division will play one division lower the next month.

If there isnt a division 4 the following month then bottom 4 players in division 3 will stay oin division 3.

This goes for every division in the league.

It doesnt matter if you are in div 3A, B, C or D, if you end the league as number 1 or 2 in your division you wil get promoted.

I like the one month schedule -- I found time to play as many as I did in a two month schedule, and of course, had the same amount of fun.

I hope we continue the one month schedule.
