View Full Version : Farewell to Theo
June 12th, 2004, 17:30
I am afraid I come to you with sad news. Our dear friend Theo has been forced to make the very difficult decision of resigning from IBA due to health issues. Many of you may not know that Theo has been suffering for some time with back problems and it has reached the point where he is unable to sit for more than thirty minutes at a time.
The IBA League was created by Eggy_IBA who then turned it over to the capable hands of Theo who has served the League so very well for a very long time. Through his guidance, the IBA League has grown into one of the most popular leagues on the internet filled with quality competition and professional administration. Theo also played a large roll in the evolution of the automated online league records.
Theo will be extremely missed around the IBA "office". It is our hope that his situation will improve and he will be able to return to his IBA family.
I am pleased to announce that Tapper_IBA will be assuming Theo's duties as League Coordinator. Please extend a welcoming hand and give her your support. You can reach Tapper at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Thank you, Theo, for teaching me about the League. Thank you for your patience, kindness, and faith in me over this past year. I will miss working with you. I am so sorry that your medical problems necessitated this change, I would have happily worked with you for another ten years. I sincerely hope things improve for you in the coming months.
Thanks also to Joy and Rummy for the promotion to League Coordinator. I hope to make all of you at IBA proud.
Thanks very much to the League players for the notes I am receiving with your vote of confidence in me. You are all great!

Theo - you've done such a great job with hosting, league and training. I know how hard it is to step down when life asks for that change. Truly, I do.
Had it not been for Eggy's creating league way back when and your taking over it, I'd not have met so many people online. League was a time to really think more about the game, but to also meet several more people each month.
Thinking 'bout you!

How do you say goodbye to someone who has been like a brother for four glorious years.
I remember May of 2000 when I told you .. hey Theo, if you'd like to play in tournaments meet me in Tournament Room 4 .. I think it was .. at pogo. That as the beginning. By the end of the year, Theo was a host and bugging ME to join the ranks of host  Oh what a great decision that was!!
My dearest friend, it pains me greatly to say goodbye to Host_Theo, but I know that the decision was extremely hard for you. We will NEVER say goodbye to our friend Theo, and that chair .. um gee, right next to mine  will forever be kept warm for your return!
Through your very capable hands, and a lot of sweat, you developed the IBA League into the best on the internet -- so professionally developed and run -- a league that keeps growing each month, was instrumental in automating IBA points system, and brought so many truly GREAT players to IBA. And now that you must step down, one whom you trained and respected will follow in your footsteps.
:congrats: Tapper on your new hat! I know that the League will continue to flourish under your guidance and the help of your very able assistant
Go with God, Theo, and know that we will miss you sorely .. but that we all wish you the very best .. and pray for a rapid recovery and quick return to your home here at IBA.
With great fondness and respect,

I talked to Theo just yesterday and let him know how much we all miss him. His back has improved some and he's madly looking for work. We talked about some creative ideas that would make it possible for him to return to the IBA Team.
